Sweet Child of Mine

Shes got a smile that seems to me, reminds me of childhood memories where everything was as fresh as the bright blue sky. Now & then when I see her face it takes me away to that special place & if I stare too long I'll probably break down & cry. She's got eyes of the bluest skies as if they thought of rain. I hate to look into those eyes & see an ounce of pain. Her hair reminds me of a warm safe place where as I child I'd hide & pray for the thunder & the rain to quietly pass me by. GnR

Summer Vacation on the Blue Note 2000

Dad wanted to charter a boat this year, so we found the Blue Note. It was 35' I think. (I know you boys know the exact footage) Devin was working at his 1st job ever- Pizzarific. And the night before we were to start sailing, Devin cut off the top of his thumb on a meat slicer that he was not old enough to use. How did that happen, Dev? Oh yeah! You were WATCHING the game on tv and slicing meat!!!! So you and Dad spent hrs at the ER and the next am, we drove down to the marina and loaded the boat. We were so excited to go on a new adventure! Dad was not happy that you couldn't get your hand wet and help Shane w/the anchor etc. You were not happy b/c you couldn't dive off the boat and go swimming. Shane and you were Dad's navigators, studying the maps and trying to stay out of shallow water...Kallee wasn't even a yr old and Dallas wasn't born yet. Devin and Shane shared the V-berth and Britt had a bed in our room. We had so many unforgettable days on there...ROFL! It was supposed to be 2 wks and we lasted how long? 4-5 days...The 2nd day out, the generator wouldn't stay on. It got so hot at nite! One night we anchored off of Tarpon Pt and Dad put Britt, Kal and I back on the dock and Sean took us back to the house for the night. You and Shane and Dad stayed onboard and got bit up. We did have some fun during the days...We headed for Pine Island and the dolphin was playing in our wake! That was so cool he was so close we could almost touch him!

And one nite we anchored off the islands past there...towards Costa Cay? Is that the place? And caught one of the best sunsets...

Isn't this where the anchor got all tangled up in something and Dad was so mad b/c he had to go down and get it all straightened out? LOL! Y'all went fishing off the boat there too and we grilled on the back of the boat.

The next day we were off Sanibel when a storm hit. It was so wild to be in a boat on the water, and see the lightening hitting and hear the thunder! There was even a rainbow at the end of it all!

I think the following day was our last day on the water b/c of that generator! We were just sailing around and we caught up w/ Uncle Jerry and JJ and Syd. Maybe MaryLou too? And the kids were all jumping off the boat and playing in the water and Dev, you were so disappointed that you couldn't get wet... Looking back I see so many awesome memories, but back then I couldn't wait to get off that boat and get into my own bed in the house with AC!
